Application example for laser processing with Xemo Motion Control for measuring and moving

Powerful laser positioning even with complex contours

Lasers are used increasingly in industrial processes. Xemo is particularly well suited for laser processing. When engineering the motion control system, special value was attached to some technological functions which you will come to appreciate if you consider the use of lasers for cutting, for example:

  • Constant path velocity
    This is used for presetting the laser performance. No matter what the contour is, the axes will then always move with the preset path velocity.
  • Path-synchronous analog signal
    This allows you to traverse the contour as quickly as permitted by the acceleration values. Depending on the current velocity, an analog signal is emitted to control laser performance and to adjust it accordingly.
  • Path-synchronous setting and resetting of outputs
    You define points on a contour at a constant path velocity. You can set digital outputs there or reset them. This way, you can define spot welds, for example, which then will be set via laser.
  • Change of axis
    You can use this feature to redefine a coordinate system with several axes. So, for example, you can convert a rotational axis into a linear interpolation. This allows you to use laser processing even with cylinders just as with a conventional Cartesian plane. If cylinders have different diameters, focusing can be adjusted by calibrating the axes.
